Ocean's Eight Review: Jackpot Or Bust?

Ocean's Eight Review: Jackpot Or Bust?

Ocean's Eight opens this Friday and as social media buzz of the cast reveal went live back in 2016 everyone wondered...HOW THE HELL WOULD THIS PLAY OUT. Nonetheless people also buzzed on having Rihanna play the hacker Nine Ball  against heavy hitters Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway.

With big shoes to fill from its predecessor series Ocean's Eleven with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts to name a few; I felt myself entering the theater with a clear and open mind to see if it would connect somehow. Sitting among other press members and a few seats open to the general public I sat through the 110 minute crafty, girl power heist film.

Yes it has its humorous moments and while like a few fans gushing over Rihanna's dread locks, I found myself saying this should've been a Netflix release. Kudos on the casting however, I was sitting among people after the showing asking what they wanted more of and all agree they wanted more characterization in between the storytelling. The long cuts and awkward, a FREQUENT Kardashian cutaways...oh yeah...they're there, there's just not enough spark to really make this gem of a cast glisten. O8 Good for a gals night out but between all the glitz, glamour and again BRILLIANT jewel heist...this movie is NOT the must see of the summer.
