SAN DIEGO, CA, July 5th, 2018 — Join Urban Beats for an evening at the San Diego Central Library, 9th floor, as our youth share an open dialog about mental health, their stories, and self-expression through the arts. There will be interactive visual art, performances from UB youth and community partners, an event DJ, as well as free resources and refreshments from the community!
The name and theme of this event is called “Heart to Art” and this is Urban Beats’ 7th youth-driven community-based event since its start in 2015. Each Urban Beats’ event features a different theme that sheds light on mental illness. This show specifically speaks to how art can promote wellness. These events give the youth a platform to tell their story and express their lives through different art mediums.Urban Beats supports Transitioning Aged Youth (Ages 16-25) by providing free services and classes centered around wellness, character, leadership, relationships, recovery and more.
Urban Beats is a San Diego Innovations Program that empowers Transitioning Age Youth by enhancing wellness through the arts and social media. Urban beats aims to destigmatize mental illness and social services through the arts.
