Gabrielle Union Opens Up Following 'America's Got Talent' Firing

"America's Got Talent" Season 14 Live Show Red Carpet

Fans of America’s Got Talent will now see a couple of new host as Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough have both been let go from the hit NBC show.

In a tweet posted November 27th, the Bring it On star wrote, "So many tears, so much gratitude. THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone... you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever.”

Although the exact reason for the actress being fired was never disclosed, Union has expressed that the job has been “toxic”. Sources close to the show spoke with Variety under anonymity where they expressed that Union frequently received notes on her hairstyles because they were considered “too black” for the audience.

In a statement, NBC and production company, Fremantle, stated that AGT is a safe space.

"America’s Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show.

"The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity," the statement added. "NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously."

Unions tweet was posted hours after her husband, Dwayne Wade already had made his own comments. The basketball star tweeted out in support of his wife claiming an injustice in her firing.

"'Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t' Over this past year I’ve been approached by many people saying that my wife @itsgabrielleu is the main reason they’ve started watching #AGT or that they love her insight and sincerity on the show," he began. "So when i got the news that my wife was being fired -- my first question was obviously why!? I am still waiting on a good answer to that question. But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she’s an advocate for our community and culture."
