'Whip/Nae Nae' Rapper Silento Arrested, Charged With Murder Of His Cousin

"Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" rapper Silentó was arrested and charged with murdering his 34-year-old cousin Frederick Rooks in Georgia on Monday (February 1).

As per inmate records and a statement from the DeKalb County Police Department via Twitter, the rapper, whose legal name is Richard Lamar Hawk, was taken into custody and booked into DeKalb County Jail on one felony charge count of murder. The arrest occurred after authorities investigated Rooks' death. He was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds at his home in Panthersville, Georgia on January 21. Meanwhile, police spokesperson Michaela Vincent told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a "through investigation" led authorities to identify the star as the "person responsible for Rooks' murder."

Back in September, the rapper brought on some legal troubles when he was charged for his attempt at trying to attack two people in their home with a hatchet. As per the Associated Press, prosecutors alleged that the rapper walked into an unlocked home of a stranger in Los Angeles and swung a hatchet at two people inside the residence, before one of them managed to disarm him. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said that he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on $105,000 bail.

As you know, the star rose to fame after his 2015 "Watch Me" video (and its accompanying dance) went viral. It has been viewed almost 1.8 billion times on YouTube.
