San Diego To Expand Successful 'Get It Done' Tipster App

San Diego's popular tipster app Get it Done is expanding to include other features as the usage of the app increases.

The 4-1-1 app was first created in 2016 to broadcast reports of potholes, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and other community complaints. In December, the app introduced a few more resources including taking reports of illegal encampments and allowing residents to purchase trash can replacements.

According to Governing.com, the app will soon begin allowing reports of illegal electric scooter activity.

In addition, city officials said they will soon launch a Spanish version to include reports in areas of San Diego where residents prefer the language.

Other future expansions will prioritize complaints related to parks like dogs without leashes and broken water fountains, according to city officials.

The app also plans to hire outside consultants to help with future expansion opportunities. Those plans are to be presented to the Rules Committee this spring, reports Governing.com.

The Get it Done San Diego app has been downloaded over 100,000 times and city officials estimate that there are 12,500 active users every month.

Since types of complaints on the app have increased, city officials have made it so residents are able to give more detailed feedback. People who issue complaints can receive an "after" picture showing that the city resolved the problem they reported.
