Vanessa Bryant Calls Out Meek Mill Over 'Extremely Disrespectful' Kobe Line

Kobe Bryantโ€™s widow, Vanessa Bryant, tore into Meek Mill for exploiting her husbandโ€™s death in the lyrics of a song.

The Philly-born rapper sparked a backlash from fans last week when an unreleased Lil Baby track leaked online saw Meek rapping a tasteless bar about the late NBA star's tragic passing.

"This bโ€”h I'm fโ€”kin' always tell me that she love but she ain't ever showed me / Yeah, and if I ever lack, I'm goin' out with my chopper, it by another Kobe,โ€ the 33-year-old musician raps on the song, referring to the late legendary basketball player, who died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

It didnโ€™t take long before the verse made its way back to Vanessa, who wasted no time in checking the rapper over the โ€œdisrespectfulโ€ line about her husband.

"Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,โ€ Vanessa wrote via Instagram. โ€œI am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there's a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact."

Although Meek initially appeared to show no remorse in a since-deleted tweet (โ€œI'm going back savage in this sโ€”t ... f#%k ya feelings!โ€), his tune seemed to change hours later when he announced heโ€™d โ€œapologized to herโ€ privately.

โ€œI apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public,โ€ he wrote. โ€œNothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!โ€
