A tentative agreement was reached between Southern California grocery store workers which will avoid a potential strike, reports FOX5. The stores included Ralphs, Vons, Pavilions, and Albertsons.

UFCW Local 135 called the agreement a "historic and transformational deal" in a press release on Monday, April 4. They said more details will be released once their members have had an opportunity to review and vote.

“Nothing is final until our members decide,” the labor union said. “We are incredibly proud of our essential grocery members, whose hard work and determination to stand together, and willingness to fight for what they deserve, has made this agreement possible.”

FOX5 reports the strike authorization vote took place on March 26 over several issues like wage increases and COVID-19 hazards. Around 47,000 employees represented by seven United Food and Commerical Workers were eligible to cast ballots.

“This will be our only comment until our members have voted,” UFCW Local 135 concluded.
