A suspect used a firearm to break into various Alpine School District buildings over the weekend, reports NBC7. According to school officials, the person was armed with a .22-caliber weapon when they broke into Joan MacQueen Middle School and the district's offices at around 11:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 2. The firearm was used to shoot windows and a door lock.

The vandal broke into eight classrooms as well as the school cafeteria and the superintendent's office. The thief managed to get away with some random items including a MacBook Pro, a computer monitor, and a box of Slim Jims.

According to NBC7, officials have yet to determine a dollar amount for the theft and a suspect has not been identified. The person was masked during the break-in but Lt. Chris Katra of the San Diego Sheriff's department said deputies "did collect some evidence we will be processing for DNA"

Luckily, the students were on spring break when the break-ins took place meaning the damage may be repaired before they return to classes.
