Drake has postponed his tour down under due to a "scheduling conflict."
According to a report Rolling Stone AU/NZ published on Wednesday, February 26, the Canadian rapper shuttered his "Anita Max Win Tour" earlier than expected. In a statement, Drake's rep confirmed the remaining four dates will be rescheduled and more shows will be added. They also reassured fans their tickets would be valid for all rescheduled shows.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience," the statement said. "Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time doing these shows and are excited to return soon."
Drake's "Anita Max Win Tour" marked his first time performing in Australia and New Zealand in eight years. He began his trek earlier this month in Perth and hit up other major areas including back-to-back shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The "Gimme A Hug" rapper had a few memorable moments throughout the tour. During his stop in Sydney, he spotted a woman in the pit who said she was 20 weeks pregnant. He gave her a VIP seat and offered her $30,000. At his show in Brisbane, Drake offered to cover the entire treatment for a fan's mom who's battling cancer.
“Whatever you need for your mother’s cancer treatment, I’ll take care of everything. I promise you," he said on stage.
Drake announced the tour last November and reportedly extended it due to high demand. Yet, dates in Auckland set for February 28 and March 1 were rescheduled (also due to "scheduling conflicts") a week before the tour began. Some fans online believe the tour may have been cut short due to low ticket sales. However, a source close to Drake's camp told The Breakfast Club that the cancellations were caused by a routing issue for the final days of the tour.
Fans will have another chance to see Drake perform live when he headlines all three days of Wireless Festival in London this summer. The festival was sold out within minutes after tickets went on sale last week.
