Mayor Todd Gloria Puts City Cuts Back Into Budget

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is using his line item veto to put certain cuts back in the budget.

The Mayor agreed to keep some of the extended hours at rec centers and libraries as well as beach fire pits and restrooms.

However he says the budget deficit of 350 million dollars still needs to be addressed.

In all, Mayor Gloria says he is cutting five million dollars in proposed spending, a million and a half dollars in council discretionary and arts funding a half million in race and equity positions and the Chief Operating position at 225-thousand dollars.

The Council needs six votes to override the items vetoed by the Mayor next week.
