The City of San Diego is raising rates on all meters within a half mile of Petco Park to 10-dollars an hour.
The meter increase will take effect September 1st, and will be implemented during baseball games and other special events like concerts.
The city says the increased revenue from the meters will be used for improvements within the special event zone downtown
The rates will be 10-dollars an hour for two hours before the event and four hours during the event.
A special event zone will include areas South of Broadway, West of Interstate 5, East of State Street and North of Harbor Drive and S. 16th Street.
Meters currently charge $2.50 an hour.
