Guests at the San Diego Zoo could begin paying for parking in the so-called "zoo lot" as early as October under the terms of a proposed lease amendment with the city of San Diego.
The City Council will decide whether or not to authorize the lease amendment at the meeting on Monday afternoon.
If approved, the zoo can amend its lease agreement that's been in effect since 1979, and start charging for parking.
The city expects that once the paid parking program is up and running, it will bring in more than $2 million in revenue for the city.
