The San Diego City Council will consider raising the minimum wage for workers at hotels and the convention center.
The proposal comes after hotel workers rallied for a $25 minimum wage last year outside the Hilton Bay Front, later going on a monthlong strike demanding higher pay.
However, the San Diego Chamber of Commerce opposes the ordinance. It argues the increase would hurt local business and make events like concerts and Padres games more expensive.
The proposal goes before city councilmembers at their meeting next Tuesday.
