WWII vet parachutes to celebrate 100th birthday

Tom Rice a local WWII veteran celebrated his 100th birthday by parachuting out of a plane over Coronado yesterday. The 100 year old vet landed safely on the beach near the Hotel Del while hundreds lined the beach to greet him. Rice was a paratrooper who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day during WWII at the age of 22 and was also gifted a new watch to replace the one he lost while on the D-Day mission and when asked about his message to the next generation Mr. Tom Rice said ‘get in the gym and keep moving.
