Its been 5 years since former San Diego Charger, Junior Seau, took his life after years of suffering with CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) caused by years of tough hits playing for the NFL. Of course every one here in San Diego who had the privilege of watching the linebacker play so passionately took time to post their memory of a real life giant on and off the field. I remember watching him all the way in Hawaii and being proud that a Polynesian was making a name for himself.
In 2015 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.
Here are a few posts from fans. I am sure there will be a ton more!
5 years ago today, Junior Seau committed suicide just two years after retiring from the NFL, he played for 20 years. His brain was donated for research, and the results showed he had tested positive for CTE. Shortly after his death, the NFL players association noted that they were planning on investing $100 million for medical research. Rest easy Junior Seau, you will forever be remembered as one of the greats. #RIP #JuniorSeau #CTE #NFL #NFLPA
