Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, & More Call For Justice For Cyntoia Brown

'Viral' doesn't even begin to describe how the story of 16-year-old Cyntoia Brown has been shared over the past couple of days.

It all started when a graphic of sorts was posted to Twitter telling the story of Brown, who'd been captured and sold to a man to be kept in his home as a sexual slave. The story goes on to explain how Brown was eventually able to fight back and shoot her captor, only to be dragged to jail herself and tried as an adult, then sentenced to life in prison for murder.

Celebrities of all kinds also caught wind of the story, and are now demanding justive for Cyntoia Brown.

"did we somehow change the definition of #JUSTICE along the way??" Rihanna wrote on IG. "cause..... Something is horribly wrong when the system enables these rapists and the victim is thrown away for life!"

"To each of you responsible for this child's sentence I hope to God you don't have children, because this could be your daughter being punished for punishing already!#FREECYNTOIABROWN #HowManyMore"

Kim Kardashian also shared her disgust for the sentence.

"The system has failed."

Cyntoia Brown has actually been in jail since 2004, having been tried for the murder when she was just 15-years-old. There's also a documentary about her story that explains the incident in detail. It is apparently a layered situation and many on social media are even saying that she may have committed the murder without cause.

I won't say too much regarding the case here, but we do know that the recent uproar surrounding Brown has given Tennessee lawmakers a solid nudge to re-examine the laws that put her behind bars.
