A consumer group tested 11 slime products and found that 8 of them had more boron than recommended and could cause harm to children playing with it.
If exposed to extensive amounts, one could suffer stomach cramps, irritation, diarrhea, and vomiting. Very high levels of boron exposure could even harm unborn children and cause infertility.
According to the European Union slime should contain no more than 300 mg/kg of boron. Slime that was bought through Amazon had four times the permitted level of boron in the toys. Amazon has since removed the toys that didn’t meet the requirements from its site.
