YASSS!!! Diana Ross will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 American Music Awards.
ABC and Dick Clark Productions made the major announcement on Wednesday (Oct. 18). In a statement issued to the Associated Press, Ross said about the honor: âIt took a lifetime to get here, Iâm not going anywhere ⊠Itâs been a wonderful journey for me of joy and much appreciation.â She will be celebrating her achievement with a fun performance, too!
The Lifetime Achievement Award began being awarded in 2008. Past recipients of it include Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and more. It's given to stars who âhave made truly exceptional contributions to the music industry.â
A true icon, Ross rose to fame when she signed to Motown Records and joined The Supremes. The group would become a staple in music with hits like âYou Canât Hurry Love,â âStop in the Name of Loveâ and âWhere Did Our Love Go.â Ross later left the group and became a solo superstar with smashes like âAinât No Mountain High Enoughâ and âIâm Coming Out.â
We can't wait for this!!! Our edges will be snatched.
