Chance The Rapper Postpones Tour To Be Present For Growing Family

Chance The Rapper Performs On ABC's "Good Morning America"

Chance the Rapper knows daddy duties come first.

Days after he and wife Kirsten celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Marli, the Chicago native announced the postponement of his tour in order to be present for his family. The musician, who is also father to the couple’s 4-year-old daughter Kensli, was set to star his global trek in San Francisco on Saturday (September 14) to promote his debut album, The Big Day.

“I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour. This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work,” Chance wrote via Instagram, along with a family photo with his daughters.

“When Kensli was born, I went on tour 2 weeks later and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most,” he recalled. “At this point as a husband and father of two, I realize that I can’t make that mistake again. I need to be as helpful and available as possible to my wife in these early months of raising Kensli and Marli. I apologize because I know how many people were counting on seeing me soon, but I hope you’ll understand and forgive me in time.”

Due to the delay, ticket buyers will be able to receive refunds on his website, where fans can keep up with dates for “The Big Day World Tour."

Chance is also billed to perform at this year's iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas in September alongside a lineup of superstar artists. Fans across the country can tune in and watch an exclusive live stream of the show via The CW App and CWTV.com. Then, on October 2nd and 3rd, relive all of the epic performances from the weekend during a televised special on The CW Network at 8pm ET/PT. And leading up to the official television special, The CW will also air an hour-long Best Of Special on Sunday, September 29th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
