Cannabis dispensaries in San Diego are getting closer to opening earlier, and staying open later.
A proposal to allow the dispensaries to be open two more hours a day would mean helping them better compete with illegal delivery services and with shops in other nearby cities.
The City Council's Economic Development Committee has approved the plan that could also boost revenue for both the dispensaries and the city.
If approved by the full City Council, it would mean pot dispensaries could be open from 6AM to 10PM versus 7AM to 9PM.
Critics say allowing dispensaries to stay open later into the night could lead to a jump in crime nearby. However, city officials say there is no evidence dispensaries are magnets for crime.
